File Types groups by extension without an AI download. Subject suggestions do not include the iPhone app’s screenshot OCR, selfie tags or GPS city lookup. Correct names and categories in the photo list before saving. PDF pages must be converted rather than copied.

Output format

SVG traces pixels into editable paths. It is an approximation, best for simple artwork.

Remove background

Creates a transparent subject cutout on your device, then refines the edges pixel by pixel at the output resolution. Standard mode downloads about 176 MB plus runtime files on first use. Quick mode uses a smaller 5 MB model. Wi-Fi recommended; phones may be slow. Preview edges before saving.

Exports actual SVG paths, not a native .ai file. Open in Illustrator and save as .ai. Tracing is an approximation, with analysis up to a 1024 px edge.

Trims each photo before resizing, without stretching. Applies to JPG, PNG, TIFF and PDF conversions. Print layouts use their own fit setting.

Optional for JPG and PDF. A strict limit may reduce quality and dimensions. The limit applies to the whole combined PDF, or to each separate file.

PDF pages render to the selected maximum edge. Keep original size renders PDFs at 150 DPI. Pages become flat images; keep your PDF for its text, links and editing features.

JPG is lossy, even at 100%. PNG, TIFF and PDFs without a file-size limit add no lossy compression to rendered pixels. Originals are never modified.

Print PDFs have the selected physical paper size and a 300-pixels-per-inch layout. Low-resolution originals may look soft. Choose matching paper and Actual size / 100% in your printer settings. Borderless printing depends on your printer. These exports use print settings, independently of the converter’s file-size limit.

How to use Image to Vector

Add a logo, illustration or photo in a supported format.
Choose SVG, a color count and tracing detail. Optionally remove the background first.
Convert and preview your SVG. Open it in Illustrator to edit paths or save as an .ai document.

A real vector, not a renamed photo

The tracer creates SVG paths rather than embedding a bitmap. SVG opens in Adobe Illustrator and other vector editors. Native .ai export is not provided; open the SVG in Illustrator and use Save As to create an Illustrator document.

Pick the right source

Sharp, simple artwork traces best. Photographs become stylized shapes and gradients can band. Small text may lose legibility and remains outlines, not editable type. Tracing uses up to a 1024-pixel analysis edge to keep browser memory and path counts manageable; the SVG keeps the chosen output dimensions.

Common questions

Does tracing improve the original photo quality?

No. It approximates pixels with colored paths. Those paths scale without pixelation, but tracing cannot recover missing detail or recreate the original design layers.

Can I trace a PDF?

Yes. PDF pages first render to images, then trace. This does not extract original PDF text or vector objects. Use the original document for faithful vector editing.
